We booked last minute and the owners were very accommodating. It was a fantastic little cottage with everything that we needed to have welcomed break. The walks on the beach were great. This is an area we know well and its location was fantastic so well positioned. We will return and hope that everyone who stays here has a magically stay in a magical place Thank you for giving us our time here Kim, Tony and the two dogs gizmo and Charlie

We had a fabulous holiday at Beach cottage, the property was comfortable and warm and there was everything we needed for a great time. The enclosed garden was ideal for the dogs and Philip the owner went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We're regular visitors to the Norfolk coast love Winterton and have stayed in four different cottages there but will definitely book Beach cottage again.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your kind words, we are glad that you enjoyed your holiday and that you loved the cottage as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

We stayed at this cottage recently and I have to say that we were very disappointed with what we found. Firstly we struggled to find the place. Our instructions told us it was between two cottages, what it didn't say was what we were looking for was actually a tiny alley between said two cottages that takes you to the cottage you need. It also doesn't say "beach cottage" anywhere that I could see. The whole place feels damp, the twin beds were damp and our clean clothes felt damp when we put them on. Patches of the carpet in the living room were actually wet when we first got there and they kept popping up randomly throughout our stay. In the living room they seemed to coincide with a wet spot on the ceiling where the plaster is actually coming off. The stairs have been mentioned before but please believe me, they are beyond what you can imagine. They are practically a vertical take off and they spiral round. Some parts of the staircase were so narrow I could barely get my foot on it. This isn't helped by the fact that the banister is loose (probably from where others have been hanging on for dear life!). The stairgate is broken (there's a piece missing) but to be honest I don't think it would have been able to be used anyway because of how the stairs are. The beds are hard, the double seems broken or at least on the verge of it. Also it says that both rooms have access to the bathroom. What it doesn't say is that you have to walk through the bathroom or the master bedroom to get to it! Each of the 3 upstairs rooms have 2 doors in a weird circle and the bathroom door that leads to the twin room has no lock on it and we were all terrified of walking in on someone. The sofa and chairs are old and uncomfortable and there's next to no counter space to work on in the kitchen. The whole place needs renovating, it feels like the owners have just spent money on the big telly to gloss over the fact that it's outdated and unloved. I'm not sure who they got to take the photos on this site but I hope they paid them well because they did a good job of making it look a lot better then it is! Winterton itself is beautiful and the beach gorgeous. I'm just sorry that I couldn't post anything nice about the house. Very disappointed and I feel robbed to be honest.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; First, we were surprised to read this poor review. The guests did not contact us during their stay to give us the chance to fix any problem; our cleaners are very reliable and usually contact us if they see anything which needs attention. We are in the process of having a house sign made. Regarding the comment about damp, none of our guests or visitors have ever indicated the presence of damp. There was no damp on our last visit to the property, and our house survey states the property is free from any damp. With regards to the living room ceiling, we are aware there is a patch of flaking plaster (a result of an old leak in the bathroom shower which was fixed in the spring and has not recurred) - we have been unable to engage a decorator due to the incredible popularity of the property (booked solid from March through October). We have already arranged for a decorator to paint throughout the property in the winter season. Regarding the wet patches on the living room carpet, no other guest or visitor has mentioned this, nor have we seen any. Finally, regarding the banister, bed, sofa and kitchen, the banister is going to be tightened on Sat 15th Oct (2016) and the bed will be checked and fixed as necessary. We have never received any complaint about any of the beds, nor the sofa, nor the kitchen workspace; other guests have found the furniture comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. The steep stairs are advertised in the accommodation description, and are typical of a period property with incredible original features. A handrail is in place to ensure safety.

We took our dog and paid extra for her which I would expect However did not expect other dog hair and sitting room carpet needs deep clean asap. Patio furniture , barbie and bathroom good other aspects like sofa very old and not so comfortable Also Tv/digi box very out of sync sound to picture - very annoying Local amenities and access to beach very good Property info warns about the stairs they are treacherous even for the able bodied

Great location. Had a really good time. The owners could not do enough for us when we had to ask them a question. All the villagers were very friendly. Good and tasty food at the local pub.
