The landscape and history of the Outer Hebrides, together with the hospitality of its people, provide a wonderful escape from the pressures of modern life and offer an active or relaxing family holiday or the perfect romantic retreat. We enjoyed a lovely week at Beach Bay Cottage. The location is superb, overlooking Uig Bay where you can watch the ever changing colours in the bay from the panoramic lounge. The only drawback was lack of wifi which was not provided and should be standard in this level of accommodation (likewise there was a sky box but no sky channels). All tourist information is on line these days and not having wifi, coupled with poor mobile network coverage is a drawback to maximising your holiday. Having the Auberge Carnish next door is an unexpected bonus in such a location, where you can dine in style. Lovely location, interesting architecture and a great place to unwind.

Having spent the last five christmas's in cottages in Scotland my partner and I both agreed that Beach Bay Cottage was the best yet. The cottage itself is absolutely stunning. It has been so well cared for and looked after that you fel like your the very first ones to stay there but it has a wonderfully cozy and warm feeling at the same time and we never tired of the beautiful and ever changing view from the 180 degree windows. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the two bathrooms are amazing. As keen kayakers it was fabulous to be able to walk the kayaks down to the beach and launch them into a beautifully sheltered and shallow bay, spend a few hours in the sea and then come back to a wonderfully warm and cozy cottage. We arrived late on our first night and were greeted with some really well thought out goodies to welcome us. A bottle of wine, some smoked salmon and oatcakes which was genuinely welcome after a long journey and very much appreciated. Thank you George and Lynda for your very thoughtful Christmas gift too and to Tosh who made us feel very welcome. If you're a keen bird watcher then you won't be disappointed. We saw loads of different birds whilst staying in the cottage including Eagles. If you're considering Beach Bay Cottage for a holiday then go for it, you won't be disappointed, it's amazing and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it.
