We have had the most wonderful week with 2 of our children aged 7 and 13 in this beautiful cottage. The village is idyllic and so, so peaceful. The cottage itself is immaculate and is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Thankyou to the owners for thinking of everything; even a box file of information leaflets to help us explore the area. We have enjoyed lazy mornings because we felt so comfortable, fun filled days at the beach and hilarious family evenings playing board games and watching videos (DVDs and player also available) We didn't want to come home. Top tip: I didn't realise until we were about to leave but the neighbouring church is open all day. Just open the door and take a pew for even more peace and quiet. A brilliant holiday 💜

A lovely well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Easy parking and great to be able to bring the dog and have an enclosed garden. We hope to visit again.

Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The village was beautiful but be warned that the roads are narrow. The cottage was very comfortable, plenty of warmth and well stocked with items needed, especially in kitchen. The local shop is easily within walking distance for papers, milk etc. We had one meal in the local pub, The Sir Walter Raleigh which was fine. Another car was parked in the bay next to ours; which I thought was in the space for a second car for our property? Also, on one occasion another white car was parked behind our parking bays which made manouvering more difficult. The walls behind the shower could do with a good scrub and the oven trays were very dirty. We cleaned the ones that we wanted to use and left them in very clean condition. However, the main meat tray we did not use so left it as we found it. I would also suggest that more bags were left for the kitchen waste container as we more than filled ours before the end of the week. Also only one bin for the recycled waste meant that it could not be emptied until last thing before leaving and not the night before. We would certainly return to the cottage as it is in a perfect for our needs, and we enjoyed our stay very much.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We apologise for our failures. The oven is now cleaned and also the shower tiles. Extra bin liners are found in the drawer near the refuse bins.

BAYEUX COTTAGE - Is a modern well positioned cottage set in a lovely village that has a great community shop, one pub within a 2 min walk and another within 15 minutes. The cottage itself was very well equipped (kitchen - everything you need) and also has a dvd and video player (remember those!) and supply of films and board games etc. Wifi is available at extra cost, and generally a reasonably spacious and comfy place to stay. We sadly have some issues to report from our stay during Feb half term. Firstly the welcome pack contained those small packets of biscuits you get in hotels - that would have been lovely had they been in date! 3 months out of date however was not a great first impression. Add to that the three squares of loo paper on our arrival and in terms of feeling welcomed - its not looking good. The following morning we went to use the grill, and gave up on that idea as whoever cleans this place needs some feedback. The oven was dirty from a previous rentals roast dinner! As a consequence we never used the grill/oven all week! Those issues aside, its a good place to stay. Personally I feel the place needs a lick of paint, especially the bathroom (which is looking tired). Final point to note, the website photograph of this place ..., please be aware its not all you see in the pic. The place is actually a mid terraced cottage, and in the picture, its the place to the left of the conifer in the foreground. To the right is a neighbour and the end terrace. The garden front and back is also tiny. No deal breaker, but its important to manage your expectations on what this cottage is. We think the picture is misleading without a caption to explain this.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are extremely sorry for the lack of care you found in the cottage. As we live in Nottingham we rely on our cleaner who is usually very good indeed, as other comments verify, but we will certainly raise the issues with her. The description describes Bayeux Cottage as an End but one terrace house so we believe the description is accurate.

if you find anything to complain about here then you must be very picky. I couldn't find anything wrong at all.

I enjoyed staying at the cottage. East Budleigh is very convenient for Budleigh Salterton and Woodbury common. I have a dog so found the maps and suggestions for walks very helpful. My grand children live in Exmouth so they were able to visit. They liked the games at the cottage. Also there is a small park and village shop nearby. We all walked to see where Walter Raleigh's house is which is close to the cottage.

The cottage was a good choice. I could be a bit picky about the lack of a back garden for our dog, but we knew it was only a courtyard so we managed ok.
