Overall this was good value for money and we had a lovely time. We had read previous reviews so were aware that the accommodation was being done up and this seemed fairly reflected in the price so we did not mind. However, it was very unclean and after my 3 nights I was ready to come home. The rubbish bin was filthy, there were lots of cobwebs everywhere, rubbish about the property from previous holidayers and the rug and chairs needed a very good hoover and clean. If the cleaning is sorted and chairs replaced it would be a lovely place to stay. The pool was closed , despite us ringing and checking it was open before we booked the holiday , which was disappointing, but it is in a lovely spot, short walk down onto beach where there is a nice pub for a drink on the beach

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your review. The carpets and chairs have been sorted and a lot more. The property has been extensively upgraded for 2018 and in addition to the luxury bathroom that you experienced, now has a high-spec kitchen with built-in oven and hob, cooker hood, large fridge/freezer, open-plan dining area, new lounge furniture, and laminate wood flooring with underfloor hearing throughout the ground floor. Hope that you will pay a repeat visit to see the enhancements.

The cottage was comfortable, although the decor was a little dated. The kitchen was adequate and cosy. The bathroom had obviously been recently renovated and was beautiful. Speaking to the owner, the kitchen is the next in line for renovation and we look forward to returning in the future to see what it is like!

Stayed for one week at the end of July. 3 adults and 2 children. I had visited Kingsdown Holiday Park many years ago and wanted the kids to enjoy what I had previously. The accommodation was mixed. The bathroom has been updated and is excellent. One of the ground floor bedrooms smelt of damp and it is not pleasant at all, the other bedroom on the ground floor was adequate. The upstairs bedroom is a good size and accommodates a single and a double bed but has some old broken furniture. The route up to that bedroom was very uncomfortable on the feet due to carpet door bars being on the front and back of the stair tread. The lounge area which is where you enter in to Bay View has a rug covering the carpet which is very dirty, the hoover for the accommodation is broken making it impossible to clean that rug. The tub chairs are really uncomfortable to sit on and impractical. The TV/DVD player is old and small but works. The kitchen is old but serviceable and despite the age of the cooker it actually works very well the kettle has a split in the front and leaks. The kitchen pots, plates etc were filthy on the day we arrived and we had to clean a lot of it before we could use it. The owner Phil was kind enough to have a welcome pack ready for us on our arrival including tea, coffee, wine etc. Bay View feels a little unloved which is a shame because the refurbishment of the bathroom shows what can be done to spruce it up. I would recommend that Phil do the following to make the accommodation more attractive and comfortable. In the short term 1) Replace the kettle and hoover immediately, 2) Replace the carpet and rugs with laminate flooring throughout Bay View (like in one of the bedrooms) as this will make it easier to clean and help get rid of the damp smell in the smaller bedroom, 3) Ensure the property is fully serviced properly before guests arrive and 4) Remove the carpet and door bars from the stair treads. In the medium term 1) Remove the broken furniture 2) Replace the furniture throughout especially the lounge furniture and have twin beds in the queen sized room. In the long term 1) Replace the kitchen. If the short term and medium term measures are undertaken in time for next season I would book again and again and again.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your feedback - much appreciated. The luxury bathroom was installed last winter and I am pleased you liked it. It is my intention to upgrade the rest of the property to a similar standard this winter - to replace the kitchen, to install laminate flooring throughout the ground floor, and to replace the lounge furniture - virtually everything you have suggested. I'm sorry that there were some issues with the of some of the crockery and kitchen equipment on the day you arrived, as the property is fully serviced by professional cleaners after each set of guests depart. Having been made aware of the issue with the kettle I will replace it immediately - indeed, had I known of it during your stay I would have replaced it straightaway. I do hope that you will return again and again and again.

The chalet was situated in a nice holiday park with foxes running about in the evening. Comfort and equipment - the kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was modern and clean , with a good shower. However for a bit more outlay the lounge chairs could be replaced for a more comfortable experience. Cleanliness - we felt the bedroom had not been hoovered, there was a peanut on the lounge chair and floor & hairs on the chairs. It just needs a bit more cleaning prior to arrival. The welcome gifts of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and wine were a nice touch.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your review and for taking the trouble to provide feedback. The property is professionally cleaned before each set of guests arrive, so I will certainly follow up on your comments about the bedroom. As for the lounge furniture, it is my intention to replace that during the winter, so if (as I hope) you come again next year, you should see a real difference, especially as I also plan to upgrade the kitchen.

The overall appearance of the camp was lovely, however the cabin setup (130) was very outdated and very uncomfortable, with the exception of the bathroom which had been newly re-fitted. The bed linen was stained and the beds were of a general poor standard. For the first week in June I would have expected to see the camp shop and clubhouse open, however this was not the case. In my opinion the bedding needs updating and the lounge seating should be thrown out.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Apologies if the bed linen was stained. It is professionally laundered before guests arrive. If you had contacted me with your concerns I would have immediately replaced the bed linen for you. As chalet owners we have no control over when some of the park facilities are available.

Brilliant location with view of the sea in a lovely village with great pubs and wonderful heated indoor pool if weather turns bad. The cottage was very clean, apart from a grubby rug and well equipped if very dated. It would have really improved our stay if the owners would install a sofa, as the chairs weren't that comfortable for relaxing on an evening. we really appreciated our milk, wine and sweets and had a wonderful holiday.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. With the exception of the lounge / kitchen, the ground floor of the property was extensively refurbished during the winter, with a new luxury bathroom (with rainforest shower and underfloor heating), and two new bedrooms (one with underfloor heating). Sofas or armchairs are a matter of personal preference, but the photos clearly show that there are armchairs in the lounge.
