In a pretty Suffolk village just 4 miles from Aldeburgh, these two individual properties offer delightful accommodation whatever the season – one an ultra modern and stylish lodge, and the other a pink, three hundred year old, Grade II listed thatched cottage. One of a pair it was formerly part of the Benhall Lodge estate. At nearby Aldeburgh, vistors can buy the day’s catch from local fishermen on the beach, and this charming little seaside town also boasts interesting shops and excellent restaurants as well as famously good fish and chips. The Suffolk Heritage Coast offers many attractions within a short drive including Southwold with its pretty beach huts and pier, Orford’s famous smokery, Woodbridge and its historic harbour, and crabbing at the pretty seaside village of Walberswick. RSPB Minsmere, Dunwich Heath and Sutton Hoo (NT) are also easily accessible as is Framlingham Castle. Fishing, riding, golf, walking, and cycling on quiet rural lanes are all enjoyed locally. Shops and pub 1.25 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with double sofa bed and patio doors/kitchen area. 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath and toilet. Wooden floors and beams throughout.

Electric heaters included.

Both properties: Bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Stereo/CD. Microwave. Fridge/freezer. Garden and furniture. Parking. No smoking.

Supposed to have been dog friendly, yes small piece of land around property enclosed but not even a dog bowl provided yet charged £25. extra per dog and lots of rules about what you shouldn't allow your dog/s to do. Think too many folk are cashing in on supposingly being 'dog friendly' but really they don't want to share their property with a canine.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are surprised at your comments and conclusion as we positively do welcome dogs to stay at the Lodge. The majority of our guests bring one or two dogs and we have had only positive comments to date. The enclosed garden area is designed to ensure dogs are safe and secure enabling their owners to relax and enjoy their stay. There is a dog bowl in the cupboard under the kitchen sink. We only ask that guests do not stress their dogs by leaving them alone in a strange environment and to not let them sleep on the furniture or the bed. The £25 charge is part of Cottages.com standard booking terms that we have no control over.

Hated see through door on bathroom. Also annoying to be unable to shower.

Very well appointed with everything that you need and a nice welcome pack. There is an enclosed garden if you have brought your dog with you. Ideally situated for the coast and the nature reserves, there is also some good shopping close by in Saxmundham. Only problems were no shower (bath only and shower attachment to be used for washing hair) and I found the noise in the mornings from solar panels quite irritating.
