A renovated cottage on a working farm with idyllic views of fells. A short stroll from the lake and amenities with further attractions at Penrith – 6 miles.

Minutes from Lake Ullswater

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

We had a lovely week in Mill Moor cottage. We had a lovely welcome and were made to feel like we had a 'home from home'. Being a working farm, there were plenty of tractors, trucks and a quad bike for our wheels-obsessed little boy to visit multiple times a day! We didn't have any safety concerns at all (our kids are 5 & 2). The farm is very well located to be able to access the surrounding area, and on the sole wet day we had, the kids were kept very well entertained by the Rheged Centre that's only 10mins drive away. The accommodation was generous and the kitchen well equipped. Our grocery delivery order arrived slightly before we did on our arrival day, and not only was this not a problem, but we arrived to find it all unpacked for us! We would be very happy to stay here again.

Well equipped , owners really care can't do enough for you. Lovely welcome package of home made scones & jam. Easy walking distance from Pooly Bridge, only down side was nearest local walk from farm was stile rather than gate so could not do it with our dogs as too high to jump & they too large to lift Shepard & Lab

Lovely location in the lake district with some great views and easy access into the heart of the national park. The cottage met all our expectations and was like a home from home. Would recommend to anyone that it's a great place to stay for a holiday

The cottage was comfortable, clean and cosy. It was well equipped though not new, it was perfectly serviceable with plenty of hot running water and very comfortable beds and sofas for our evenings by the log fire after a hard days walking. the location was to die for with lovely walks from the doorstep. The family and the two resident dogs were very friendly.

The cottage was very nice however we told the farmer to get some more cats that killed the mice as they kept eating our ginger cake!

We had a great week at Mill Moor with our two young girls (6 and 4) who loved being on the farm. Amanda and Nigel were very friendly and allowed us to roam around even in the midst of lambing, a great experience for the kids - there were new born lambs to see every time we went to the barn! While the farm is on the edge of Pooley Bridge, it's an easy walk through the fields to the village, so we could always walk back from the pub rather than having to drive. The cottage itself was lovely, lots of space and well equipped and would be nice and warm even in cold weather. A really good spot for a break with the kids.

Beautiful cottage, lovely warm friendly greeting with homemade scones waiting on arrival. Very peaceful location, lovely walks close by with a great pub called The Sun to end a perfect day.

A beautiful cosy cottage. Very spacious, warm and clean. Lovely fresh flowers and homemade scones on arrival. Friendly helpful owners but not intrusive in any way. Will definitely return very soon. Of particular note were the extremely comfortable beds and powerful walk-in shower.
