Barrowswood, a semi-detached holiday cottage (ref 29842), enjoys commanding views over Cheddar Gorge in the distance. Its large garden adjoins a field with occasional visiting sheep and is the perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. Strawberry Lodge (ref 29841) stands detached at the far end of the grounds of Barrowswood, enjoying woodland surroundings with magnificent views over the field and across to Cheddar Gorge. Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-Super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. A great location and well-equipped house. Comfortable, plenty of space inside and out and helpful welcome information. Bit awkward to get to through the current building site but hopefully this will soon be sorted.

Exceptionally comfortable and well equipped property - home from home. Large, safe garden for children to enjoy. Perfect quiet location to explore the area. Would certainly return and highly recommend to friends and family.

We all enjoyed our stay, cottage was spacious yet very homely, located well for exploring but a little to far to walk into cheddar village for people of a certain age or capabilities. Saying that we would recommend barrowswood.

We had a long weekend at this lovely cottage, which we were all sorry to leave. There was absolutely nothing we would have changed about it. I had read that other reviewers had said the photo's do not do it justice and this is true. I can not recommend this property enough. We hope to return, just this time for longer.

We had a fantastic Christmas at Barrowswood. This cottage was ideal for a family gathering with 4 good size bedrooms and 2 sitting areas and plenty of room for 8 adults for Christmas dinner. It is much bigger than it looked in the photos and in a great location with lovely walks straight from the door. Book it - you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful cottage, had a real home from home feel! the pictures do not do it justice, the cottage is much bigger than it looks, plenty of space with a lovely open plan kitchen, diner. We were a party of 6 adults, 2 children and 1 infant. The rooms were immaculate and cosy. Overall the cottage was well equipped with essentials in the cupboards, could do with mirrors in 2 of the in the bedrooms, more tea towels and a garlic crusher... The owners met us at the cottage, Amanda was very friendly and explained everything. The Christmas Tree over the festive period was a nice touch as well as the cheddar cheese! All information in the cottage was useful and we took up some of the actives recommended with some great days out and lunch at the Bath Arms. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would highly recommend the cottage.
