Description

Barn Owls is the perfect base for couples looking to explore this delightful location, with many footpaths to discover, including the South Downs Way.

Nestled down a rough track, Barn Owls Holiday Cottages are situated in a beautiful old flint walled barn, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, at the foot of the South Downs National Park. Adjacent to the owners home and accessed via a rough track, the barn has been converted into three self-catering holiday cottages of differing sizes, all retaining some of their original beams, which add to their charm and character.
The cottages are set in an ideal base for exploring the South Coast and its glorious surrounding countryside. For walkers, there are many footpaths to discover, including the South Downs Way. There is a good bus service at the end of the drive, with access to a railway station and also the cross channel ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe.
The beautiful village of Seaford is situated close by, with the beach in walking distance, meaning you leave your car behind and enjoy a picnic on the beach with your loved ones. A 30 minute drive will take you to the sunshine coast of Eastbourne, with its pier, theatre and flower decked promenade. The historic town of Lewes, home to Lewes Castle and Harvey’s Brewery, where visitors are welcome to visit, is a must, and a great day out. In the opposite direction is Brighton, where guests can take a trip on the British Airways i360 vertical cable car, or stroll “The Lanes” and find a bargain. Alfriston , Glyndbourne and Drusillas Zoo Park also make for great days out, and are situated within easy driving distance. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

The little touches went a long way... the welcome hamper, lots of pamphlets on local information and where to go. Plenty of space in the accommodation and use of washing machine, decent fridge freezer, fantastic cooker made it all excellent. Forgot the camera and would have liked to take some photos of the place. Could not get any off the internet.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The only snag was when using the bus crossing the road was a problem on return journeys from Eastbourne end. Lovely cottage and very welcoming hosts.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Barn Owls. We received a nice welcome pack including a bottle of wine and a home-made cake, very thoughtful. It was comfortable, cosy and quiet, with own space outside to eat when desired. There was ample parking space and the cottages are very secure, and the owners are right there should there be a problem (which there wasn't). It is an excellent base for exploring the East Sussex area, situate half way between Brighton and Eastbourne, and easy access to all the lovely walks and views around. You must try High and Over, just north of Seaford which gives a stunning view of the whole of the Cuckmere Valley. So many places to see and things to do, we certainly may go back. Roger and Angela.
