We had a great time. The views are lovely and very relaxing. The weather was good for the time of year, but I wish it had been good enough for cocktails on the balcony in the evening. The only thing I would say to do is, on the directions put take the second turning onto Elgin Road. We took the first and looked on the left. It wasn't there. As we were early we went to the Brynwyn Arms down the main road for a drink and they told us where it was. They were so friendly and helpful in that pub and the food was good to. I love that area of Wales and hope to go again.

Barn Gwyr is a very unique building. The addition of the games room is a very nice touch and we had lots of fun using it. The location is ok. It's quite a way out from the town but does have a very good bus service. The Welcome pack we received when we arrived was a very nice touch and we really appreciated all the nice goodies after a long journey. There where a few things however that I didn't feel made the property suitable for our needs. Using the property was my Mum, my Dad, Me, My Wife and my Son. My Son still sleeps in a cot and a travel cot was very kindly put up for us in the room with the bunk beds. The problems was the the room was so small that the cot was right up against the bed and the wardrobe with a mirror on. I was very concerned that my Son might smash his hand against the glass mirror or pull the wardrobe over on himself. We ended up putting him in one of the other rooms but to be honest they were quite small to. The property was also a little tired. When we got there the lights downstairs weren't working and we couldn't find the fuse box. We eventually found it in the bathroom but a bulb had blown. There were no replacements for this type of bulb. We attempted to phone the number provided by the company we rented from for the owner but had no reply. There was also a socked in the lounge area which was coming off the wall and the bin wouldn't close. These may sound small but I felt with my Son around these were significant enough issues to worry about. Personally I didn't have any issues with noise from the main road at night but during the summer with all the windows open it would be noisy. The final thing I found was that the driveway was very tight to get into and I personally need someone to guide me to back out. The property is between a bend and a main road and visibility is very poor due to this. Overall the property was not suitable for my needs but would be great for people with older children or a group of friends.

We loved it . So did our dogs . The owners have thought of everything . Clean, comfortable and well thought out . We had a child less weekend break but almost regretted it as the games room was a gem perfect for teenagers . Definitely going to rebook and already passed on details to friends who are going to book as well . Can't wait to return .

We stayed in early September and the location was fantastic, however there were a few small issues. The Barbecue was filthy and would never have used it, the shower head in the bath leaked meaning it was difficult to wash the children and bedding was very cheap and uncomfortable for a good nights sleep. If these small issues were rectified then it would be perfect, clean, tidy, ideal location and great value.

The house in itself was nice, but there were some bad points. 1.The beds were awful, you could feel every spring well overdue for renewal. 2. NO welcome pack info-eventually found it hidden under out of date tourist info. 3.No usable tin opener. 4. Location dreadful very run down, very depressing and on a very busy road. Owners have spent alot of time and money on property but the beds and location was a real shame. We will not be back.

Barn Gwyr itself was very clean and well-equipped with good facilities (2 TVs and DVD players, WiFi, wardrobes, mirrors, hangers etc) and a lovely big bathroom with a great shower. The kitchen had everything we needed and all was in good condition. The games room was a particularly good feature and the balcony served as a good outside space in dry weather as, in spite of the property description, there is no garden to speak of - just some garden furniture in the area next to the drive and fronting the street. The only reservation I had about the cottage itself is that the mattresses were quite uncomfortable - not much support. There was also a problem with damp in the games room, kitchen and the front bedroom ceiling when it rained. However, the real issue with the cottage was its location. It is on a residential street close to the main A-road which can be noisy. There are few nice local places to eat out (although we had a great meal at the Masala curry house in Llanelli) or for sightseeing - you have to go further afield for that to the Gower or Pembrokeshire. Having said that the beach Cefn Sidan at the Pembrey Country Park - just 10 minutes away- is beautiful - and if you like cycling, the coastal park is just over the road.

The pouring rain and gloom last week, didn't do the arrival at Barn Gwyr justice, but the inside of the cottage was impeccably clean (my son has asthma and we can tell when carpets have not been vacuumed by the amount he struggles to breath at night - and he was fine for the whole week). The downstairs is all hard flooring which is ideal when one has dogs (two) and the sofas are wipe-down leather - ideal for little jammy fingers. The open living space was ample for our (2 adults/2 children/2 dogs) needs. The games room is not accessible through an internal door so that limited use , but for older children it would have been great. The front "yard" was clean, weed free and secure for dogs that don't jump. Upstairs, the rooms are small but well kitted out and the bathroom was generous with a good working shower and bath. We didn't need the wood burner but made use of the games, books and jigsaws. The millennium path and the Pavillion Cafe were unexpected and delightful gems (cafe only takes cash but is a must for breakfast and unusually warm and welcoming staff ). We didnt use the roof terrace much - mostly because we were out exploring The Gower, Tenby, Kidwelly Castle, Big Pit, the waterfalls at Neath, Cardiff Castle and Bay. However, if we had we would have been met with the odd juxtaposition of the lovely sea view and what appears to be a small junk yard in the property just below the house. It should be noted too that you can not get to the Estuary from the house due the railway line that runs along the coast. Aside from those points (which are easier to overcome in the sunshine than the rain) the welcome pack was well thought out and bountiful. The pack turned a very late, long journey and exhausted arrival, with the impending doom of having to go straight back out and find something to eat, into a pleasant, relaxed root around for some tea, scones, jam, milk, butter etc whilst the dogs/children explored the house and settled in. Thank you.
