Found it very difficult not having a shower and felt that the owner was cost saving as not even a pint of milk was left. Loved the area but would look for different accommodation next time,

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are obviously disappointed in this review since we always strive to ensure guests enjoy their stay and feel they are getting value for money. Properties with shower facilities include this information within their description; we don't because we do not provide a shower. With regards the feeling that we are cost saving, this does not appear to be shared by other guests who have left comments in our visitor’s book or posted reviews on the website.

The cottage was wonderful, the log fire and everything else was just amazing, apart from mattresses. Like all rented holiday accommodations these are the last considerations. No sumptuous mattress just old mattresses, when you consider how long you spend asleep it would be wonderful to wake up feeling so refreshed, forget the rolled bath tub, etc, invest in a decent mattress. However, having a dog with us she ran around the garden and enjoyed herself in between long walks. The neighbour obviously did not agree to this and said it was his garden, which confused us as it it seemed quite obviously tied to the cottage the garden. As responsible dog owners we examined the 'garden' for any mess and cleaned up whatever we came across, which was very little, if not belonging to other dog owners before we left.

Unfortunately we were told the travel for would be put up for us but it wasn't. We arrived at ten pm in the rain and it was not obvious where the cottage was. We were looking for half an hour. The heating had not been put on and it was in December. We had 11 month old twins and it was freezing.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. Whilst the travel cot was not put out for you (and we apologise for this omission) it is readily accessible from the cupboard under the stairs and very easily put up (the guest information folder states where the cot is kept and instructions are provided). With regards to directions to the cottage we feel these are as clear as they can be. However, trying to identify a particular property after a long journey, arriving in the dark, late at night and in heavy rain is not always easy. As for the central heating, this is programmed to come on for a period in the morning and again in the evening. Once guests have arrived they have the opportunity (and instructions on how) to override the programme. We were not informed of a late arrival and can only assume this guest’s arrival was after the heating had turned off at the end of the evening period and the cottage had started to cool.
