These pretty detached cottages (Ref: B6857 and Ref: HD37, 10 yards apart) retain many original features and stand in the oldest part of Hathersage, as described by Charlotte Bronte in the novel ’Jane Eyre’, and have lovely views over gently undulating hills and fields. Locally, activities and attractions abound, including many superb walks from the doorstep, facilities for golf, fishing and horse riding. A little further afield are Castleton Blue John Caverns, Peveril Castle, Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Eyam Hall and Matlock Bath. With water sports at Carsington Water, there will never be a dull moment. The properties can be booked togther to accommodate up to 8 guests. Shop 500 yards, pub 100 yards.

    A lovely cottage ideally situated for walking

    The cottage is very roomy and is perfectly positioned for a walking holiday with an excellent pub at the bottom of the road. It was spoilt by being slightly "the worse for wear" and in need of an upgrade/make over.

    Lovely place, really nice house, perhaps a little dusty. Could do with a bit better organisation re leaflets and such like.

    It reflected the price. I liked the location and the space within the house. All the necessary was provided. All radiators were in a working condition and the meter didn't let us down (had to spent a few cold nights because we forgot to top it up before we went to bed), but it was ok in general. The things that I would recommend are perhaps to sort out the bathroom's and kitchen's windows as they don't open. It is inconvenient especially in the kitchen. Also the bathroom window would be better with blinders than curtains as it's overlooked by neighbours. Too much outdated unnecessary ornaments that are more of a clatter really. The cleanliness of the carpet isn't to my standard and it stunk a lot. I advise guests to keep their shoes on at all times. A part from that, as I said, the house feels quiet spacious and the views are great.
