Located a mere 5 minutes from the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park this spacious semi-detached holiday cottage is one of four dwellings created from a restored courtyard farm steading and is located within a quiet private estate. Woodland walks are available directly from the door and it is ideal for walkers and cyclists of all abilities with a magnificent diversity of scenery boasting dramatic peaks, waterfalls, hidden caves and mysterious, forest covered slopes. Providing a tranquil location to either relax and escape from the trials of everyday life, or a fantastic base from which to explore the spectacular scenery and history of the area. The deep glens and narrow sea lochs are typical of the West Coast and there you can find a huge selection of Scottish wildlife. Red deer, roe deer, buzzards and golden eagles to name but a few. The area is also full of history. Standing stones, burial cairns and rock carvings abound. The town of Dunoon is within easy reach and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Take a steamer cruise and explore the hills and lochs of the Cowal Peninsula. An abundance of outdoor activities are on offer with sailing, sea fishing, windsurfing, fast speed RIB boat tours, quad bikes, clay shooting and more. Nearby, the magnificent woodland gardens at Benmore Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 2 miles.

    The cottage was lovely and spacious but rather worn and tired and need of an update. the garden was not dog safe as they could easily get under the fence and escape to say hello to the sheep!!! The location was fabulous we loved the hills and woods surrounding us. The dogs were in seventh heaven!! Loads of fantastic walks. You need to be aware of the ferry costs if you want to get to Loch Lomand and Glasgow with out an hour and a half drive around (though you pass spectacular countryside).

    Absolutely delighted with this huge property. Loads of space. Very private and ideal for a family break. Even the dogs enjoyed it.

    The cottage was lovely and in lovely surroundings, however it could just do with the decorating freshening up and a good clean. Overall we all had a nice time the local area is gorgeous

    Lovely, spacious and well equipped house. We had 2 dogs and greatly appreciated the large enclosed garden. There were 11 of us in our party and there was plenty of space.

    This could have been a great break, unfortunately it was not presented at its best. We arrived at 15:00 but were unable to enter the cottage until 15:15 because the cleaners were still there. I am not sure what they cleaned because the carpets downstairs didn't look like they had been cleaned. The shower in the master bedroom did not work. When we located the fuse board the shower fuse had red tape covering it. The sower in the second double bedroom had a blocked drain, I had to buy some drain cleaner to clear the blockage. In the kitchen the fridge door was broken. In the utility room the front of the washing machine was broke. In the living room both sofa were well worn one with a loose arm the other with a loose back. You are given a local contact number if you have any issues. The number starts 009 which means you would have to make an international phone call to Dubai which is quiet expensive by mobile so I didn't call it. Apart from this the beds were comfortable and the rest of the cottage was comfortable and reasonably equipped.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; As you can imagine we are very concerned at this review and have been through it in detail with our property managers - taking the comments one at a time. The guest notes that his party had to wait for 15 minutes to get access to the cottage because the cleaners were still there. The cleaners were still there but the guest arrived 1 hour before the designated arrival time so there was no reason for them not to be there. We have not had any complaints either before or since on the cleanliness of the cottage and our property managers do not believe that the downstairs carpets had been left un-vacuumed. The guest notes that the shower in the master bedroom did not work, and that the shower in another double bedroom had a blocked drain. The shower in the master bedroom was working immediately before the guest’s arrival, and we have not had any complaints that it does not work from subsequent guests. It may be that the switch at the bathroom door had not been turned on – if the property managers had been contacted they would have addressed this. Likewise the blocked drain. The drain was not blocked immediately before the guest arrived, and could have been addressed by the property managers if they had been contacted. Again we have not had any complaints of this nature from subsequent guests. The guest notes that the fridge door was broken. This fridge door is not broken. There is a separate door that covers the fridge to blend in with the units, and neither are broken. The guest notes that the front of the washing machine was broke. The front of the washing machine is not broken. The guest comments on the sofas in the large living room. There is a loose arm on the smaller couch thanks to an over enthusiastic guest, but as this is immediately adjacent to the wall it does not detract from the comfort of the couch in any way, and is really barely noticeable. There are no loose backs; both couches are reasonably new, and are not well worn. The final review comment is the most confusing. The local contact number is not a 009 number - we have no idea where that came from. The local contact numbers which are clearly displayed in the utility room are two UK mobile numbers for our property managers who are located a 10 minute drive away from the cottage in Sandbank. We do actually pride ourselves on taking all guest comments on board –everything from filling in potholes in roads to providing baking equipment as we genuinely want guests to have the best possible holiday and to enjoy this beautiful part of the country as much as we do. However in this case there is nothing that we can really address.
