We stayed for the weekend, it was excellent value for money, a lovely house with lots of character. The children loved the house and grounds and the library. Very cosy with the real fire in the library. Thanks for a lovely visit.

Thank you for your service and care throughout the initail booking, the payment system that you have and for your genuine helpfulness and attention to detail. Far away from anything could do with a deep clean furniture could do with replacing and some kitchen utensils could do with replacing and the house smelt foisty

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am distressed that this guest had negative comments about Auchinellan House. The photographs and description of this house do indicate that it is traditionally built and 10 miles or so from Lochgilphead but also emphasise that there are many forms of entertainment nearby. I was in the house myself just before this guest and his family arrived and found it clean and welcoming. We have an excellent caretaker who would have been delighted to help with any of the guests' problems, particularly those pertaining to kitchen equipment and I am sad that there does not appear to have been any communication with the Caretaker.

There was 12 in our party- 4 generations, the youngest 6 and oldest 76 and we all loved this place. The 2 labs loved it too. We were reluctant to share this review because we'd love to keep this place to ourselves..... The house was big enough to absorb all of our party and able to offer some privacy when needed. Despite being a generally dreich February weekend the house was warm and comfortable and had plenty hot water for baths, showers, dishwasher and washing machine. The tumble drier was a blessing to dry wet outdoor stuff. The kitchen was adequately equipped - plenty crockery etc for us all to eat together at meal times. The setting and grounds were beautiful.

If you're looking for a modern house with all the latest gadgets then this is not the place for you. However if you're looking for a house full of character in a gorgeous location with a great view of the Loch and lots of land for exploring then this is the place. The house does need some TLC but it is is clean and has everything you will need. The caretaker on the estate is very helpful and friendly. A great place to come if you are wanting a relaxing break in gorgeous surroundings.

Our whole extended family spent Christmas week at Auchinellan House and the entire experience was magical! The furnishings in the public rooms at the House are a tad over abundant and "tired" but then most privately used homes of this nature are. The lighting could also benefit from some attention as the small lamps topped with dark shades gave these rooms a gloomy atmosphere. With the help of the strong lads in our group, we rearranged the furniture to suit the group, brought down the brighter lamps from the bedrooms and gave the public rooms and hall a christmas makeover. The end result was stunning. Reading "The night Before Christmas" to the little ones in front of the open log fire in the library cum sitting room with the fairy lights twinkling on the tree and around the fireplace is a memory I will treasure. As is our visit on Christmas Eve to the private chapel adjacent to the house which had been decorated with the nativity scene. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all fresh, clean and nicely furnished. The kitchen is very well equipped and whilst prepping and cooking a Christmas dinner for fourteen with only four rings and one oven was a bit of a challenge, we pulled it off. (I would recommend installing a range style cooker with double oven and five/six rings for a property of this size). As I said, the entire experience was magical and one we hope to experience again in the future. Our thanks to Ollie and Phil for all their help and kindness.
