We had a perfect week with our family and friends. The house has ample accommodation for everyone to have their own space or all to socialise together. The grounds provide plenty space for wee ones to run off their excess energy while the more sedate in our group sat round the fire. Phil was very helpful, full of useful information and kept the logs stocked up. We would recommend Auchinellan House to anyone.

Disappointed in this property, didn't find it overly clean. The bathrooms were the worst, fitted with the cheapest toilet seats, the showers went from cold to scalding (my 22 month granddaughter nearly got scalded, luckily her mum was quick of the mark) if there was a tap running, dishwasher was on, and with a party of 11 this was hard to avoid, and to be honest, 2 baths/showers isn't really enough for a party this size. The dining room is like sitting in a sauna(pine panelling all over), not pleasant and the biggest table wasn't big enough for our party. We wouldn't normally use a washing machine but the little one was ill during the night so we had to use it, but the electrics were to scary, we had to call Phil in, he swapped plugs and it worked, but I wouldn't touch these!!! The library was the nicest room and that's where we spent our time. The biggest thing that annoyed us all were the notes that on departure -which is 10am- you had to strip the beds, HOOVER, and tidy up- this isn't in the description when you book it......... We had to leave stuff in the dishwasher as we ran out of time!!!! This is the first time any of us have been asked to do this( one of the couples rent out a holiday property on the Isle of Wight and they have a cleaner in between change overs!!) this may be the reason it's not overly clean!!! Overall the house is very run down and really needs upgrading.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; At Auchinellan we take customer satisfaction very seriously and have caretakers, Phil and Oly, living on the estate. They are always available to answer questions or attend to maintenance problems. The cleaners for each property have limited time between lets hence the request to vacate by 10 am. We are particularly sad when we see adverse comments on the website when we have not been given the opportunity to help the guests with their problems. We were not made aware of this guests problems and would have ensured that they were attended to immediately had we known. Planned work on the house and furnishings was undertaken between this visit and Christmas (2015).

The views are lovely, location is private and plenty of grounds to walk. Amazing views from the house and towards Loch Awe from the land. Heating was included and very well provided for. Open fire was a lovely bonus. But it also felt run down, as the house needed some more care and maybe a little bit more luxury would have been nice. There was an air of neglect about it.

Very well heated property and after we had worked out that we had needed to bring our own towels and hadn't, Phil and Olly provided us with some with no fuss whatsoever. The only issues our party had was the unanounced visits from the owners/staff to carry out some work one day and the slight feeling of being chased out on the Saturday morning, guests are provided with a list of cleaning duties and asked to basically CLEAN the house and also told be out so that the CLEANERS can get in by ten am. To do what? I don't know.
