Originally a toll cottage on the old Ayr to Newton Stewart road nestled within a pastoral valley.

If this pretty lovingly restored cottage could talk it would have some fascinating tales to tell as it was originally a toll cottage on the old Ayr to Newton Stewart road and horse and carriage would have been the mode of transportation then. A really lovely cottage, ideal for getting away from it all. Thank you for a great holiday.

This is the most charming cottage I've ever stayed in. I've scored it an 8 for location because it is a little remote but for us this was why we booked it. Girvan and Ayr were an easy drive as was Loch Doon and the Galloway National Forest Park. Asda in Girvan, local shop in Crosshills (a little expensive) but in walking distance. Lovely walks from the cottage down country lanes only meeting local dog walker and the occasional car. The cottage is well maintained and has all the equipment you need, a real home from home. The log burner was a bit of a challenge for us but we did manage to get it going, albeit for a short while. The owner, who popped in to see us in the middle of our stay was so friendly and helpful. The garden is secluded by a hedge, no views, but you only have to lean on the gate to catch a beautiful sunset. Off road parking was a bonus too. Every morning we had a visit into the garden, a hare, who didn't seem to mind us sharing his garden. Overall this is a 'must visit again' cottage. Well done Mrs K.
