Killybegs is not an exciting place, but it is a convenient base to explore other locations in Donegal and beyond. Close by, are of course, the magnificent cliffs at Slieve League. The folk village at Glen Colm Cille is great and the waterfall at Adara is magnificent. Further afield is the stupendous Giants Causeway and the nearby Dunluce Castle. Very well worth a visit is " Eagles Flying" at Ballymote, near Sligo . Another attraction is the small lace museum and shop at Ballanaleck in Co.Fermanagh (but it is tiny any only worth a half hour stop) . The accommodation is lovely with views over the harbour and Larry the owner is very obliging and willing to lend maps and give guidance to local facilities. The estimate of the distance to the nearest pub is an exaggeration and if you can climb the steep hill after a few pints of Guinness you are very fit.
