Quirky, charming cottage in an idyllic unspoilt location with a range of walks direct from the front door and at least three pubs within walking distance to reward yourself afterwards.

Can't get over how quiet it is here, despite living in a semi rural area ourselves. Yes, the stairs are steep and narrow but any reasonably fit person will have no problems as long as they are careful going down to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

We would probably give 7.5 if possible. Really cute cottage and does not deserve the low ratings it has received. However given that the cost is almost £100 per night a few bit of maintenance could considerably improve the score. Namely a blind on the velux window in the bedroom so the baby didn't wake at 5am am and a few other bits of disrepair. WiFi would also have been a considerable plus.

Location perfect, but some attention to detail would have been appreciated. Improvements should include a curtain to the velux bedroom window, a freezer drawer door that does not fall off, clean bedding for the sofa bed, a TV remote that allows access to the 'ceefax' programme, wi-fi service available, a cafetière supplied, and most importantly, information about dustbins, so that visitors can at least make a better effort at clearing after them. But, with easy access to Stroud, Nailsworth, and Gloucester, it was a perfect base for our purposes, especially with early morning visits from free roaming cattle from the common!!!
