Four of us shared the cottage - one couple and two single friends, so very conveniently we had a bathroom each. There was certainly plenty of space and the decor was lovely. The kitchen area is quite small but adequate and well equipped with plenty of fridge space. The location was perfect - not far from the village centre and very quiet. It is perfect accommodation for a family summer holiday. It was very cold (March) when we stayed and it took some heating. Our only gripe was the lounge sofas which really need replacing. Even so, would still recommend Ashtree for a relaxing stay. Walberswick and Southwold are superb holiday spots.

Ashtree was comfortable with the lounge/dining areas very spacious (much appreciated by the disabled member of our party who could use his wheelchair in the area rather than relying on his sticks). The obly negative point about the lounge was the sofas/armchairs, whose bases have sagged with use making them very low to sit in (not so good for the over-70s!). These need renewing. The kitchen was efficient and well-equipped. The two double bedrooms were somewhat cramped for space, but the beds were comfortable, and the provision of three bathrooms, one en-suite and the other two immediately adjacent to bedrooms, was a great advantage, avoiding queuing for their use. Overall, though, Ashtree was well worth the rental paid.

The village of Walberwick is very pretty, with open fields and church on the approach and wonderful estuary views down to the sea at the far end of the village. Lots of scope for walking if you have good weather. Good pubs with exceptional food in 'The Anchor' and a useful village grocers and other shops. The cottage was ok for a one weeks stay for a large family group. We were 5 adults. The living room was spacious and the kitchen was well equipped - not that we chose to cook as there were very good pubs in the village. The conservatory gave even more space. But there are issues that need to be dealt with, in our view. 1.The front porch was grubby. 2. The garden was in real need of a good tidy and pruning - the growth made the interior of the cottage quite gloomy - not to mention making the back entrance difficult to make use of. 3.The comments book mentions damp on more than one occasion and the front double bedroom definitely had damp marks and the place smelt damp following rainfall. We had plenty of rain to expose this issue. Not good for those of us with breathing problems and allergies. 4.The third double bedroom was small - we could just pass along the foot of the bed, but it did have a bathroom with bath next door - which merits a bonus point! 5. The sofas were not the most comfortable - suggest a review and replacement. 6. More light is needed in the dining area - dim and romantic is all very well, but we wanted to do jigsaw puzzles on the table and found it hard to see properly. Most of these remarks were put in the house comment book and we are sure the owner will take them seriously as he had replied to some comments made prviously. The owner was very helpful and visited to see to another problem which was finally resolved late at night on day one. We won't be returning simply because we choose to travel around the country.
