We had a fantastic holiday staying at Ashlea so much so that we genuinely didn't want to go home at the end of the week. The cottage is situated in a quiet location at the top of a large village green, is close to the beach (about 5 minutes walk) and there are local shops within walking distance. The owner had provided some thoughtful extras including shortbread, bath robes and an assortment of complimentary toiletries for each guest; there was a slight issue with the heating when we arrived but this was sorted out very quickly and efficiently. The location of the cottage is great for Edinburgh as there are park & ride facilities within about 20 minutes drive and it is also close to other tourist attractions (the Scottish Seabird Centre is definitely worth a visit). We noticed that another guest has recently remarked that the décor of the cottage is dated but we felt that it is more that the interior has a retro feel to it; this is in fact very in-keeping with the age and character of the property which has beautiful high ceilings and ornate coving. We felt very comfortable and would happily return to this cottage again in the future.

Ashlea is a lovely spacious cottage. Plenty of room for myself and wife plus two teenage children. Wi-fi is good, which meant teenagers were happy. The village is immaculate, plenty of local pubs and eateries. The beach is a 10 to 15 minute stroll away and is stunning, the sea was a little nippy though. Edinburgh about one hour drive or 20 minutes from Drem (about same travel time, but without hassle of traffic jams). The only thing wrong was the weather, but the cottage can't be blamed for that.

Tremendous potential but now in need of a major upgrade - crockery, toilets & decor - generally tired.

Response on half of the owner. Thank you for your comments about Ashlea Cottage. We hope you enjoyed your stay despite feeling the property needs to be updated. I welcome your comments however, most people who come love the property and comment on how well equipped it is and that the photos do not do it justice. The property is 4 star accommodation which is reflected in the price and amenities.

A really lovely property in a great location. The children loved the park which is very close to the house. It doesn't really cater for young children as we had to bring a high chair and travel cot which wasn't a problem on this occasion as we had our car.

This is our 2nd time staying at Ashlea and would definitely book to stay again. The location, feel and comfort of the property is all superb. Great walks on the doorstep and an amazing beach at the back of the house. Loved everything about our stay.

Wow! A lovely house with 2 super gardens so you can catch the sun any time of day. Easy access to Edinburgh and North Berwick is very close - a beautiful seaside town.
