Description

This property is peacefully located and surrounded by stunning scenery, with pleasant walks and cycle routes from the door.

Peacefully located and surrounded by stunning scenery with spectacular views, these delightful cottages have been carefully converted from the barns of a former farm steading. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the holiday properties are two in a little group of four, located between Torpenhow and Ireby on the northern fringe of the Lake District. Attractively furnished, well presented and equipped to E.T.C. 5 Star standard, the living accommodation is on the first floor to take advantage of the outstanding views, including stunning sunsets over the Solway. There are pleasant walks and cycle routes from the door along lanes filled with wild flowers and wildlife. Keswick (on the shore of Derwentwater) and Cockermouth (birthplace of William Wordsworth) offer shops, restaurants, galleries and tourist attractions, the former with a leisure pool and the latter with a swimming-pool. Romantic, quiet and peaceful, yet an ideal base for the Lakes, Solway coast, Scottish borders and Hadrian’s Wall. Sailing on nearby Lake Bassenthwaite. Armathwaite Hall Hotel, a 10-minute drive, offers a swimming pool, gym, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room. Maes Gallery and tea rooms serving food daily is within 2 miles. Ireby is within a mile with a warm, cosy pub with log fire, and serving food daily. Shops 5 miles.

Wonderful holiday. Lovely owners who catered for all our needs. Beautiful cottage which was immaculate and well appointed. We would certainly recommend Ash Tree Cottage and hope to return in the not too distant future.

We were charmed to stay at such a well thought out cottage, with two cosy but romantic bedrooms, very comfortable beds, warm duvets and fluffy pillows, a stylish bathroom with shower and a very spacious and well appointed upstairs living kitchen diner with spectacular views through floor to ceiling windows. The central heating was most efficient, we were as warm as toast. Our hosts came to greet us after we arrived and were charming and most anxious that we should have a good stay. We really enjoyed the afternoon tea and welcome gifts which we found ready for our arrival. I particularly appreciated the laundry room and the games room which would come into their own on any rainy days. The broadband connection was reliable and the television reception was more than adequate. Although the cottage lies just on the boundary of the national park, it was very easy for us to drive to the lakes, yet also ideal for Carlisle, Cockermouth and Silloth. Ash Tree Cottage really did live up to its advertised description as a luxury cottage. We really would recommend it for those who have a their own transport.
