Lovely, comfortable, quirky property in an attractive village setting with interesting walks down to the river which the grandchildren and dog loved. Ideal base for trips to Hadrian's Wall, the Angel of the North, Durham, High Force Falls, Hamsterley Forest and so much more. Helpful owners and the best Welcome Pack we have ever come across. Thank you. Small improvements would be more/new fridge door shelves for extra capacity and a larger hand basin in the en suite bathroom.

We had a wonderful weekend break with 17 members of our family. The house was absolutely beautiful, with excellent facilities, especially for the children. The owner was very helpful and provided a roaring fire and excellent welcome pack. We've stayed at many properties and this is one of our absolute favourites. We will 100% be returning.

We had a great time with a week of fabulous weather. The cottage is quite quirky but even with a big party there was room for privacy. The open plan downstairs worked very well. Very very well equipped, in a quiet pretty village. No local shop - the nearest supermarket was in Bishop Auckland, 10-15 mins away. Lovely local walking and only half an hour from Beamish or Durham. The games room and toys were a real bonus. Also enjoyed was an amazing 'welcome pack'with lots of treats. We were greeted with a roaring fire, which was lovely. Unfortunately the Dun Cow opposite does not do food and the other was closed for refurbishment - due to open April 2015. We had a good meal at the Duke of York which was 10 mins drive. We were a party of 13 + 2 extra short term visitors. We could all sit at one table which was great. There was plenty bedding and towels. Extra beds are only recommended for children. We had several 6' plus but still managed pretty well with a bit of rearranging! Masses of crockery glassware and kitchen equipment. The annexe was lovely, quiet and self contained although accessible from the rest of the cottage, without going outside. The garden and patio area had delightful views and we had many meals outside. Overall there are 4 toilets 2 baths with hand held showers and 1 stand in shower but with the poor water pressure, it wasn't great. There is a garage which can be used and plenty of on street parking

An amazing cottage! Everything there to accommodate a party of 8 adults and 6 children aged 1-8 years. We all had a lovely time. The cottage is very cosy and welcoming. The welcome pack was to be seen to be believed and the games room was a hit for all ages.
