Discover Dorset’s stunning countryside and coast from this cosy 18th century farmhouse with its own spa room.

Surrounded by beautiful Dorset countryside, close to the Dorset Gap, this substantial 18th-century farmhouse stands a mile from the pretty hamlet of Plush with its delightful village inn. Retaining many original features, including ornamental fireplaces and splendid high ceilings, the property benefits from the addition of a games room and spa room in its cellar. With its own large, pretty walled garden, with lawned area and flower borders, it stands in the grounds of the owners’ 650-acre organic dairy farm; there are lovely walks from the doorstep amid the farmland.

The Dorset Gap is nearby, for walks amid stunning scenery, while sandy bays and nature reserves can be found along the World Heritage Coastline just 18 miles away. Dorchester (Thomas Hardy’s Casterbridge) is within driving distance for a wide range of attractions, including a lively weekly market, with the beautiful Maiden Castle sure to be a highlight. A trip to the charming town of Cerne Abbas, with its Tudor architecture, and the nearby Cerne Giant are also a must on any itinerary. There are good golf courses in the vicinity and a selection of excellent inns and restaurants within 7 miles, this truly is an ideal location to suit a variety of holiday needs. Shop 5 miles.

Lovely house and host. The hot tub downstairs wasn't the most luxurious - it would have been nice to see the stars and be outside. But the property itself was lovely, kitchen well equipped. I only felt bad that we couldn't vacuum properly on the day we left as the two Dysons were a bit past their prime and didn't do much! I can recommend a vineyard tour at Langhams if you can convince someone to drive. Lunch at the Brace of Pheasants was also fab. Highly recommended.

The house was a great size for 10 adults and 7 small boys. 2 lounges really made a difference. We had a great time and will look to book again!

We have stayed here 3 or 4 times now with friends for the weekend. The house is very well equipped (eg two dishwashers) with lots of space for everyone to spread out.

A lovely break with 12 friends celebrating my 50th birthday. The house is lovely and we really enjoyed the hot tub, pool table and table tennis. The house is on a working dairy farm and this adds to the enjoyment, saw new calves born and had a go at milking, the staff are all very friendly and keen to answer questions. The house is very remote but this also adds to the appeal. Lastly the fresh milk and home made cake really made us feel welcome. Thank you, hope to come back again.

We had an excellent weekend at Armswell House for our annual get-together. The house is very spacious and comfortable. The owners are very generous hosts, providing a delicious cake on arrival and a tour of the farm. This is a beautiful area, we enjoyed the quaint villages with pretty thatched cottages and traditional country inns, spent a fascinating evening watching badgers and foxes and walked along the cliff top from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove, it is a beautiful coastline.

Just one or two items of equipment were missing - hairdryers, and shower gel, for example. But a lovely location, and we had a wonderful week with children and grandchildren....
