Went to do some work in piece and quiet. Wifi did not work due to storm? But looking at visitor book rarely works. A real issue as i need to be online for work and this was my main search criteria. The real fire I was looking forward to was in usable due to filling house with smoke, expect chimney blocked. The location was good as nothing around ams nothing really to do, so no distractions. Place clean, but wooden kitchen tools etc moldy as I do not think it's heated when no one there. .. why would you. Place smelt damp, but we booked really late so probably no time to warm through. Wanted us to tale rubbish to top 7 miles away, but it seemed to close earlier than advertised.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. This booking was a 'same-day-booking' and I got to know of it only after the guests had left already. Our housekeeper got the phone call from the agency in the morning and rushed out to prepare the house for the guests (arriving the same afternoon), convinced that I had been informed and had agreed. Therefore there was no time at all to preheat and air the cottage, as we would normally do out of season, when the house had been empty for longer periods. So I can only apologise for this. This winter in Westcork has been extremely wet and this has caused the chimney smoking. The chimney needs to be warmed up slowly, best with a lighted rolled newspaper and held up into the chimney pipe. The chimney was swept in October and it also had a new vent system installed on top of it. It was working perfectly when I checked it and with previous guests (the last ones had left after New Year). Around 2 weeks ago we found a new provider for the internet and therefore we have also had a new wifi system installed. According to the guests staying in the cottage now, it is working perfectly.

very comfortable accommodation. Homely and you feel happy spending time in the cottage. Good bike store. T.V is very limited, old equipment poor satellite . Seals in bay compensate for this!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Yes I agree, the TV set is not brand new, but it is a Bang & Olufsen, which together with the 2 satellites provides lots of international channels.

Wonderfully peaceful location and comfortable cottage with very good facilities. It's a pity there isn't an upstairs toilet or bathroom.

The location was perfect. Especially the view When we booked , we choosed intentionally this cottage, because in the drescription , it was written : wifi. It was not a good surprise to discover that we had to by a broadband card and difficult to set up . In fact the television didn't worked except two or three channels , but except that the bed was very good, the items in the kitchen good quality and very well equipped . It was a good surprise to find a bottle in the kitchen ,fresh flowers ,and a card. The house was very well cleaned . We would recommend sincerely this cottage!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are trying hard to find a better solution for the wifi, which isn't easy as the position of the cottage makes it very difficult to get any broadband. The TV has got 2 different satellites and therefore lots of international fully working channels. However it is very important to follow carefully the instructions. It could be previous guests have changed all the connections and didn't mention it to us.

We had a lovely visit at Adura Beg Cottage and would definitely stay again. Beautiful scenery and perfect for a peaceful getaway. The cottage was well equipped and clean. The only negative was that we were expected to dispose of our own rubbish at the end of the stay. We were leaving early on the Saturday so decided to drive the considerable distance to the landfill on the Friday. When we arrived the landfill was closed and the notice stated that it did not open at all on Fridays. It would have been very helpful to have had the landfill opening times at the cottage for visitors as this would save wasted journeys.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for the nice compliments! My apologies for not updating you of the opening hours of the nearby landfill. I am not living in Ireland myself and when I had left in April the opening hours were still the old ones. In any case we are aware that it is unusual to ask our guests to take away their own rubbish. Unfortunately on Saturdays the landfill closes at 13.00 o'clock. That's the time when my caretaker is really busy preparing the cottage for the following guests. She would have to take the left behind rubbish to her home until the following week, when especially during the summer could become a real problem. Leaving it in or around the cottage would disturb the new guests.
