Amidst a stunning secluded location with a 1½ mile private beach, this really is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday or family celebrations and is just 4 miles from the nearest villages. Nestling in 460 acres of unspoilt natural woodland, Ardlamont Estate is ideal for large parties and weddings. It is located in an area of stunning natural beauty with hills, glens, rugged coastlines, white beaches, clear waters and ancient forests. Argyll’s Secret Coast is packed with places to visit and things to do; sailors, walkers, cyclists and artists are all drawn to this area for its beauty. Abundant wildlife can be spotted such as deer, buzzards, otters, golden eagles, red squirrels and if you’re very lucky, basking sharks. The whole area is steeped in Highland history and dotted with ruins, castles and ancient sites. The town of Dunoon is within easy reach and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Take a steamer cruise and explore the hills and lochs of the Cowal Peninsula. Loch Lomond National Park is just a short drive away and is ideal for walkers and cyclists of all abilities, and boasts a magnificent diversity of scenery with dramatic peaks, waterfalls and hidden caves. Portavadie with its plush marina and restaurant is approximately 5 minutes’ drive away, or you can catch the ferry over to Tarbert to explore the Kintyre Peninsula with ferries to the islands of Islay, Jura and Arran. The historic Ardlamont House is a classical example of a Scottish country house, dating back to at least 1646 when it became the ancestral home of the Lamonts, one of Scotland’s oldest clans. Sumptuous public rooms with blazing open fires, and elegant four-postered bedrooms makes this ideal to enjoy the fabulous surroundings. Beaters Cottage is stone-built with many original features. Beach 500 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

    In quite a remote area so be carful if using a Satnav there's a few little roads and its easy to take the wrong one. The cottage is comfortable but there is a lot of clutter. No mobile phone/internet reception but we liked that. The road to the private beach can be very muddy if its been raining. Lots of farm and wildlife about.

    We were so looking forward to our much earned rest in what we were led to believe from the brochure was a beautiful cottage in stunning grounds! Instead we were sadly disappointed

    Wonderful location, and very quirky. Could do with a bit more light & heat in the living room for in the evening- imagine it would be very cold in low season. We enjoyed the isolation, but it should be made clear there is no wifi in the cottage at all. Very impressed with the quick help we got when a fuse blew the upstairs lighting, and greatly appreciated the fresh eggs!

    Response on behalf of the owner. The underfloor heating is available 24 hrs per day, controlled by thermostats on walls by guests. Sorry you felt the un-seasonal chill this summer.
