A homely and typically English thatched cottage. A comfortable place to relax.Expect low ceilings especially if you are a "long shanks" or take a crash helmet! Pleasant walk alongside a river of about 2 miles into New Alesford where there is a variety of shops and eating places and Winchester is a short drive away.

Lovely old cottage with open fire and central heating making it very cosy on wintry days. Very good bus serice to Alton and Winchester with buses running frequently and free if you are as old as we are! Very well equipped kitchen although a few more casserole/serving dishes would have been useful. An amazing array of appliances for such a small cottage. It would be lovely to return in the summer and appreciate the garden a bit more.

My wife and I spent 4 days at April Cottage it more than met our requirements. If you are looking for some much needed downtime I would recommend April Cottage.

We loved our stay at April Cottage. Had great walks into New Alresford and loved touring around the area. Wished there had been a dryer at the cottage but at least we had a washer and hung our clothes to dry.

good points, pretty cottage, well equipped, and great for locality.owners sounded pleasant[on phone] bad points.dirty.everywhere,tired and dated look of cottage.heating.cold.garden.a bit of a mess. I hate to say this but after 10 years of cottage holidays this was by far the worse, their was dirt every where, dust, sticky surfaces, cobwebs, balls of hair, dirty carpet[bathroom].dirty switches etc.the garden was overgrown with garden equipment everywhere.the curtains were old dirty.some furniture was old and tattered.heating, came on twice a day,it was cold.draught.so beware you have to keep overriding the system.but it dosent take long to warm up. this cottage really needs a good clean and modernising and it would be lovely.we were so disappointed with this cottage.we would not return.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback which came as a bit of a shock, it’s nice to hear you found the cottage pretty and well equipped. As owner’s we take great pride in the cleanliness of the property as it shows in previous comments and scores. If you had brought this to our attention during your stay we would have been happy to address any concerns. The garden is a country cottage garden, however some of the flowers maybe coming to the end of their season (bluebells in May ) which can sometimes look untidy until the leafs die down and other plants come into flower. The only garden equipment is a small table & 2 chairs for outside dinning, and a bench for sitting and enjoying the garden. The furniture reflects the style of the cottage and is very well looked after . The heating system is modern and well serviced and can be programmed to come on at any time if needed. The property is due to be redecorated at the end of the summer season.
