The Annexe is ideal for a couple, it is well equipped and it is located in an lovely peaceful setting. We will definitely be visiting again and thoroughly recommend it.

Off the beaten track, quiet location, accommodation clean and well equipped. Only downside was that i woke up to find a bat flying around the room, not quite sure how it got in as no doors or windows open. Poor phone reception, struggled with e-mails, wifi signal intermittent.

Think twice if disabled. Really not good. The owners were helpful and friendly but if advice had been given to them it was not helpful. The toilet was low so they provided a disabled seat for it when asked, extended the heating, moved furniture for disabled access to the bed and rest of the room. The settee was too low so I spent the week on a kitchen chair. We borrowed self inflating camping mats from relatives we visited, to make the bed bearable. The 'disabled kitchen sink' was low but not suitable for a wheelchair as it had shelves underneath, the cooker was full height so it was contrary. Equally you could shower but not wash. The glass shelf over the wash hand basin in the shower room/toilet limited any real use so washing was a shower or nothing. We were lucky that neighbours left early as this reduced the noise from 'next door' through thin walls and connecting door. The cleaning was not very thorough. When the settee was moved, a bottle top was found, kitchen cleaning sponges and cloths stunk, spiders were well established in corners, by the toilet, the bed and radiators. Patio areas had fencing around but not the Annex which overlooked the bins and car park. Little had been done to make the whole place attractive. The track down was rutted and muddy.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The Annexe is suitable for disabilities which are variable and we have had plenty of people with disabilities staying in the Annexe and have not had any problems. It is also suitable for abled bodies with a connecting door into the next cottage which is stated on the website for larger groups or used as a ‘granny pad’ for those who cannot get upstairs. All furniture is movable to accommodate an individual’s need which was done in your case; the shelves under the kitchen sink can easily be removed but did not need to be as you did not have a wheelchair. As for the shelf in the bathroom over the sink, I cannot see how that is debilitating for washing as I assume most people would use the sink with the plug in and use a flannel or such to wash with. The bed is a standard double slatted bed with a Silent Night Sprung mattress – again I have never had a complaint about the bed. The wall between the Annexe and Rose Cottage is a cavity wall 14 1/2” or 370mm wide and is insulated hence any sounds will be travelling through the door which we will consider putting in a double door there. I will speak to the cleaners with regards to the kitchen cloths and sponges which should be changed weekly. As for the spiders, as soon as you rid one lot the next lot comes along! As you probably know they get everywhere and it does not take long for them to spin you into their web!
