There were a couple of small issues - two bulbs out, the battery in the Co2 detector out, the note from the last occupants about Halloween damage not picked up, a pair of old pants on the twin room floor - but in the main it was fine and we had a lovely conversation with neighbour Betty. We should have noticed there was no WiFi - that was an issue for us but my fault for just assuming everybody has a connection these days. Plus the foxes are noisy and messy, but pretty to watch at three a m when they set the security lights on.

Excellent accommadation. Would benefit from comfy chairs in dining room as well. We would have spent most time there reading listening to music. We would go again

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments which are very highly appreciated but we prefer to have only dining room furniture in the dining room, as we already have a living room with comfy chairs where it is possible to spend time reading and listening to music. We are glad to know that you were satisfied with our accommodation and look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to Angus Vale.

Our main problem was we were often cold and it was made clear in the cottage brochure not to alter the central heating. Also we arrived after dark and removing the keys from the safe was a nightmare!!

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner: We were greatly surprised by your comments and the low score, particularly as we had spoken to you over the telephone and had provided ours and many other contact numbers for any kind of information or assistance that you may have required, however, no contact was made during the 3 week stay. Firstly, in regards to location, the Duddingston area is considered to be one of the nicest areas in Edinburgh, in particular the residential “Durhams” area, where our cottage is situated. The purpose of this guests stay was due to renovation delays in their future home and being from Edinburgh also, we find it to be strange and unfortunate that the guest was unaware of the exact whereabouts of our cottage. In reference to the comments in regards to the central heating, we are very sorry to hear that you were “often cold”. The central heating system is quite simply operated on a timer basis and can easily be adjusted according to individual guests’ needs, particularly during cold weather. It is unfortunate that you had difficulty operating the central heating system and should you have contacted us, we would have been in a position to rectify any issues you may have had. Instructions of how to gain access to the property are provided within the arrival details that are supplied by Cottages 4 You. This is the first guest to have ever experienced a problem gaining access and we have received no complaints previously in regards to the instructions provided. We would also like to take this opportunity to apologise once again for not being able to accommodate you in our home for an additional week however; this was simply due to another guest having booked to stay with us for one month in the meantime. We thank you for having taken the time to complete this valuable survey following their stay at Angus Vale; we always greatly appreciate receiving our guests’ feedback.
