We liked the cottage very much, and its location; we soon felt at home. What we really missed was WIFI; we would have appreciated a bigger fridge and freezer.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments, we are very happy that you liked our cottage very much and its location. In particular that you very soon felt at home, which was excellent considering your three week stay with us. For what regards WIFI, as you will see from Cottages.com's website, we do not advertise wifi in our property and we're really sorry that you did not notice this prior to your booking. For what regards a larger fridge and freezer, personally and I think I can also speak on behalf of all our other guests, the ones we have would appear to be more than adequate.

Both holiday & cottage were great. The cottage was tidy & clean, the location was excellent, with a bus stop to the city less than 2 minutes away. There was a supermarket only a 10 minute drive and the local shops within walking distance. We had a good sleep every night, so no issues with the beds & there was plenty of space for storing clothing in the wardrobes & drawers. The bedrooms have good curtains, so once there closed no light seeps through. Angus Vale also has a very well kept garden that is ideal for eating outside.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you very much for your comments. We are truly happy that both your holiday and the cottage were great. Thanks, for appreciating that the cottage was tidy and clean, that the location is excellent and for using our great bus service N. 5 bus to the city less than 2 minutes away. Its great that you also visited our local shops all within walking distance. We are really pleased to hear that you managed to get a good sleep every night, so that there were no issues with the beds and that you also appreciated that there is plenty of space for storing clothing in the wardrobes and drawers. We also highly appreciate the good curtains in the bedrooms which once closed prevent any light coming through. We also passed on your comments to our gardener, Allan, with regards to our very well kept garden as he does a wonderful job and yes, indeed, we also agree that it is ideal for eating outside, that's why we provided a table and chairs.

The property had not been serviced prior to our arrival so it was a disappointing start to our break. As a whole the facilities were unclean at best, and filthy at worst, we had to wash kitchen items before they were fit for use. The bathroom had serious issues with mildew in the shower area, and was generally tired and unclean. Throws and cushions in the sitting room were stained and covered in hair. If it had not been for Betty across the road from the property (who was so helpful) allowing us to use her facilities I have no idea what we would have done with our rubbish because the bins were either overflowing or contaminated. This is our 3rd time at the cottage and although the owner did refund a portion of our payment, we will not be back.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Again, our apologies that our property had not been serviced prior to your arrival and we fully understand that this was a disappointing start to your break. Indeed, for this reason we provided you with the sum of 100 pounds so that you and your family could have gone off to enjoy a lovely meal in one of the nearby pubs/restaurants giving our caretaker time to service the cottage, which she did as soon as she received our phone call. In fact within one and half hours of your arrival, the cottage had been fully serviced. For what regards the state of our facilities upon your arrival, unfortunately, w cannot take responsibility for how guests leave our cottage. However, we have found the situation you describe to be quite unique. As for Betty who lives across the road from the property and was so helpful, allowing you to use her rubbish facilities, as you will have seen from the Welcome card on our dining room table, Betty is actually our contact person for any assistance you require during your stay and not only in your case but with all our guests, she is always available and very happy to help. As this was your 3rd time staying at our cottage, you obviously have never had any issue prior to this and again our apologies for this oversight which was completely beyond our control. As mentioned above, we did our utmost to intervene immediately.

A lovely 'home' to return to after a hectic day in Edinburgh and the number 5 bus is so handy being at the top of the road taking you into the city centre so no hassle finding parking, great.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: - Thank you for your consideration of our cottage as a lovely home to return to after a hectic day in Edinburgh, this reflects our thoughts completely. As for the number 5 bus, yes we agree this is very handy being at the top of the road 2 mins away and takes you right into the city centre, as you say just great.
