I have stayed at Anchor Lea on numerous occasions and have always had a great holiday. The cottage is situated in the centre of the old village and is minutes from the beach and local pubs. We do go to the cottage out of season as it is quieter. The cottages offers us everything we need..log fire, access to local tourist attractions, good pubs, the ability to do as much or as little as we want. The bank into the village is a little steep so no good for people with mobility issues, and you must park your car at the top of the bank in the car park..no parking in the village. Out of season, though, the parking is free of charge. The cottage has a fully equiped kitchen, so if we don't want to eat out we don't have to. There is a butcher in the village that opens every morning so you can buy good local meat, vegetables, newspapers, basic food items. We get logs from a woodyard at Lyth, down the road...self service..load your logs into the car and put the money through the letterbox !!We love it here and will most definately stay at Anchor Lea again

Anchor Lea is in a superb location being in the heart of the village. However, parking is a major issue which adds to the cost of the holiday. The cottage is "tired"'and needs to be updated. The owners/manager were/was difficult to get hold of when a breakdown of the washing machine occured. Otherwise, we had a fab holiday.

Village is exceptionally beautiful. Went to Eden Camp that was super. All pubs welcome dogs and fish shop was lush. The cleaning was not up to standard in the cottage. It was bitter cold the first night and it would have been nice if we had been left some coal. Neither the village or cottage is suitable for the infirm as the village is on a steep incline and the bedroom at the top of the cottage is 3 flights up.

In a great location in a great seaside fishing village, but the cleanliness and state repair of the cottage was disappointing. Damp in the third room rendered it unusable for my kids, found cereals and other food stuffs etc in the dining area on floor and the microwave was a health hazard. Stayed in many cottages over the years and this was the one in the worse condition and state of cleanliness.
