Great location for exploring southern Wales. Cottage had all of the conveniences of home. Owners were helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

We were very pleased with the cottage - it was comfortable, clean and of a good size on both levels and the beds were very comfortable too. There were beautiful views across the valley and the landlady was very warm and friendly. There were one or two little things that we felt could have been improved - the main bathroom smelt of drains. It wasn't too bad but wouldn't dissipate even with the window left open, we couldn't work out how to use the recliners on the main sofa. The mechanisms were not like the other sofa and the chair. There were one or two DVD's but only for small children or one about river fishing (obviously everyone's taste is different but there are usually a few at other places we have stayed). Finally, it was very dark in the main room and we had to have the lights on all the time but obviously nothing can be done about that. If the cottage were somewhere else we would be very happy to rent it again as we loved it but we found that that Pontadarwe didn't have a lot going for it (or we missed it!) and because of the cottage's position high up the hill above the town through several housing estates, we had to drive everywhere.

The cottage was nice and the owners extremely helpful. The Afan Forest was great for mountain biking and Cardiff and the Mumbles were good. Unfortunately the weather during our stay was wet for 70% of the time and therefore it was difficult to find suitable alternative activities. Swansea was a little tired and had limited appeal. So excellent area if you are into your mountain biking and/or cycling, even better if the weather is good.

Bags of space. Perfectly presented. Host and hostess couldn't be nicer. Local facilities are excellent. The whole package is so good, we have already booked another fortnight in October.

Fantastic week away with family and eldest son's best friend. Helen was there to greet us on arrival and provided us with a tour and demonstration of key equipment. The photos do not do this accommodation justice as the actual size is not fully appreciated until you walk through the door. We were blessed with excellent weather, so did not need to take advantage of the central heating and underfloor heating, which was on when we arrived, but we turned it off. A superb base for exploring South Wales, with plenty of ammenities close by, but far enough out of town to be quiet and isolated. Overall I cannot praise this accommodation enough, Ian and Helen provide a top notch cottage and I can see why it won a gold award. Would definitely recommend to friends. 10/10 for sure.
