There are delightful walks on the estate and cyclists will enjoy winding through the attractive villages and wild flower-laden country lanes. Ullswater, known as the most romantic lake, and the Keswick area with its spectacular high fells, are both within a 20-minute drive. A free outdoor heted swimming pool (season) and playing field can be found just a 5-minute walk away. This location is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and those wishing to unwind in a beautiful, relaxing and peaceful setting. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

    A brilliant house which was fantastic for our party of 7 adults. Great to have en suite facilities for all 4 bedrooms. Kitchen really well equipped. Garden suitable & safe for our dog. Owners next door were very friendly & helpful. Would definitely go again.

    Our 3rd visit here, so it must be good. 3 couples and 3 dogs. Big house, lots o space, excellent kitchen and plants of space to chill. Owners are so friendly and helpful. Nearby pub (literally 2 mins walk) is great. Lots of walks for dogs, easy road access to Carlisle, Penrith and Keswick. Highly recommended.

    Stunning location and fabulous period property. We really enjoyed our stay and found the Howard's perfects hosts. We would definately go back. Very family and pet friendly. The village is perfect and have convenient shop pub and swimming pool. Easy access to all parts of the lakes.

    We stayed at Algars Garth in late June for a week. The cottage was large and perfect for our party of six adults and three dogs. There was plenty of room for us all in the well equipped cottage and the outdoor space was safe and large for the dogs to run around. The owners who live next door were very welcoming and on hand for any questions, advice or problems. Across the road is an excellent pub that welcomes dogs and serves great food ( booking is advised as it gets very busy ). Overall, a fantastic cottage to use as a base for exploring the Lake District,

    This is a wonderful house. The village is pretty, historic and well placed between Ullswater and Keswick for great walks. Three generations of our family enjoyed themselves thoroughly and the owners were so welcoming and thoughtful. We will definitely return.

    This is the best house I have stayed in. It is more than comfortable, more than well equipped and excellent value for such a property. The owners are the nicest couple anyone could wish to meet. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they go out of their way to ensure that you are enjoying your holiday.

    This holiday property is outstanding, huge with lots of space for large parties .we are a group of friends who stay in holiday properties every year over the festive break and can say that this was our best find ever. A stunning property with wonderful hosts Neville and Moira who couldn't do enough for us . The property is well equipped and very warm ,so warm with lashings of hot water that we didn't even light the log burner ! All the bedrooms were en suite with huge comfortable beds ,beautiful towels and bedding.The public house opposite was welcoming with friendly staff and good food . Would we return to this house ? Yes of course we would and we are ,but shhh don't tell too many people about this gem in the Lakes .

    We have stayed at Algars Garth , I think this is the 6th time. Neville and Moira are wonderful hosts and are available at any time. Very comfortable after a hard days walking, with the comfy sofas and the woodburning stove. And the Boot and Shoe pub is a minute away!
