Algar's Garth is a beautiful house; spacious, well equipped and full of character. We received a very warm welcome from the owners and were delighted with the sight of a roaring wood burner and a lounge area with three very comfortable settees. The bedrooms, all with en-suite, were similarly very comfortable, the master bedroom being enormous, with a view over the village green. The house is well situated for touring many of the lakes, with good access to town facilities in Penrith and Keswick. We were impressed with how warm the house was, especially when returning from long walks in the changeable weather. Our party, who ranged in age from 11 to 70, plus the dog, all loved our week's holiday and intend to return.

We stayed at Algar's Garth for 7 nts in March 2016 just prior to the Easter week. We stayed with family and had a truly fantastic week. The house was brilliant and had everything we needed. Our hosts, the owners, were very helpful and looked after us well. The house was everything we had hoped for and the location was a superb base for visiting the surrounding area. The Boot & Shoe pub across the road was great as it allowed us and the dogs in so we spent most evening there before retiring by the log burner back at the house. We would definitely return.

We stayed over New Year and the cottage was lovely and warm and very welcoming. The owners were fantastic and went that extra mile to make the holiday special. Super pub opposite. Very dog friendly.

Our party of six adults and three dogs loved our weekend break at Algars Garth . Its a fantastic house in a lovely village . Plenty of room for everyone , well equipped kitchen , all bedrooms with en-suite and powerful showers , comfy beds and nice bed linen. Lounge set out really nice for all to sit around the log burner. The extras in the house are to many to list but even included dog food , bowls ect ! The owners who live next door are very nice and helpful and have gone beyond expectation with Algars Garth . Greystoke is a great little village with The Boot and Shoe pub directly opposite the house , very welcoming to us and the dogs and nice food. A great area to visit and superb accommodation just about sums it up !

We had a family gathering in October 2015 at Algar's Garth. We were welcomed warmly by the owners who were always available should we need anything. The house is superb. Akin to a Manor House, you will not want for anything. The four bedrooms each have an en-suite, with powerful showers & plentiful hot water. All the rooms are huge with plenty of space & seating for up to 8 people. Kitchen is very well equipped. WI-FI signal was faultless throughout the house. The location is excellent. Algar's Garth sits in the lovely grounds of Garth Castle & I recommend a walk around the grounds. Keswick, Derwent water, Ullswater & Bassenthwaite Lake are all within easy reach & a must if you love beautiful scenery. Penrith is good for shops, petrol & supermarkets. I highly recommend the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick for live entertainment. For food, the local pub, Boot & Shoe, is wonderful. All in all, a truly superb house & we will definitely return.

Just a lovely house in a beautiful location, very well placed for access to the lakes and destinations other side of Penrith. The owners are very nice people and nothing is too much trouble.
