Had a wonderful long weekend at the cottage. Was a bit far out from anything but wasn't any trouble for us. Beautifully decorated and spacious

I will try not to be too negative about our stay at 1 Aley Farm Cottage. At the time of our stay, No:2 Aley Farm Cottage was still having some finishing touches done to it,with a small amount of noise each weekday, but not much, there was just no mention of it happening. As with a previous review,it was noted that there was no "welcome basket" which all other places we have stayed at was included, but no big issue it's just a nice touch to have. The more important issue, was that there was no information folder, which would normally include local details of things like doctors, dentist, hospital, shops etc. also information on the heating system and electrical equipment etc. In a cupboard in the utility room can be found some literature relating to these items,by the way,the wi-fi password is on the back of the router,I had to ask to find this out, that would normally be included in the "information folder".Again,I have agree with a previous reviewer, you will need to shop before arriving at the cottage, because the nearest supermarket is in Bridgewater,a good Morrisons and I believe there is an Asda. There are normally tourist information leaflets amassed by previous guests, but as this is a new holiday let there are none, also no cards, games etc. so take what you think you may need, and ladies that includes a hairdryer.I believe my comments have been purely factual, and not meant to be derogatory.Almost forgot, there is not a visitors book to complete at the end of your visit !

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I would like to point out that the cottage is semi-detached and as with any semi property, you would expect a little noise, a small amount of noise each weekday, but not much. The party wall is built to current building regulations and is well insulated. Our cottage is very reasonably priced; we can supply a welcome basket if you require one, there is a cost for this, but are happy to do so should you have a special occasion. We have not as yet put a welcome folder in but will do; we have found most don't read it anyway. Thank you for bringing to our attention that we had missed out on the hairdryer, this will be added. The cottage is on the Quantock hills, a lovely rural area, there are shops in the village and we have Wi-Fi so you are able to look for all the interesting places to go and shops local to the cottage. When you book the cottage, please look at the location, as you would not expect to see a supermarket in a hamlet with only 16 housed in it. We don't add games, books, cards as it spoils the look of the cottage and they are not very hygienic. We take feedback seriously and I am surprised to receive this feedback as when I was talking with you, you said that the cottage was lovely and that you were having a lovely holiday.

Beautiful new immaculate cottage, (1 of 2 ) decorated to a high standard and very comfortable and well planned. Good location and very quiet with horses nearby. We stayed with our 4 young children and they loved the cottage and the private enclosed garden. The only criticism would be that unlike many other cottages we have stayed at, there was no welcome pack or information file with leaflets about places to visit etc and you need to take your own books, DVDs and toys. It is a lovely cottage knitted out well with most things you could need within the cottage including fluffy towels and toiletries which were appreciated. It is best to buy food en route as the nearest supermarket is at Bridgwater. The owner lives nearby but we only saw her once. This was fine for us but some other visitors might prefer more contact . We would definitely consider staying here again.
