    We had a fantastic week at this cottage and would definitely stay again. In particular we enjoyed the Sauna and Summerhouse which had great views across the water(binoculars would be good in here) and offered welcome relief from the midges. The house was warm and comfortable and well equipped;no need to pack a cafetiere or hairdryer. Don't forget you need to take towels for your stay and also for sauna use. It would obviously be better if these were provided as like most people we had limited space in our car when travelling to the destination. Wellies/swimming shoes would be useful for exploring rock pools etc; we wished we had taken these. Ach Na Mara did feel like a home from home-the only issue we had was the electric shower. It was very inconsistent, not much power and often ran cold. The surroundings were beautiful - good base for exploring the island too.

    Response on behalf of the owner. So pleased you had such a great time at the cottage & thanks for the positive email sent to me personally. Regarding the shower: It was renewed in spring of this year and is the most powerful allowed by the electrical supply to the cottage. I also send out a detailed "information email" to guests so that they are reminded about towels, and in it wellies are suggested for beach playtime (old or young). Hope your missing shorts found their way back to you in the post ok too.

    Stayed here for a week in July and loved it. The cottage feels cosy and secluded and is enveloped in absolute silence. It was the perfect size for just two of us, spending daytimes exploring the island(s) and evenings cooking and sinking a few glasses of wine in front of the fire. The location is within easy reach of all sides of the island - in the high season I'd recommend avoiding the tourist hot-spots and getting across to the islands - Raasay, Canna and Rum were all stunning and well worth a visit. Otherwise, have a look through all the walks presented in the folder on the shelf in the cottage (perhaps this could be left on the table? We only found it on the penultimate day) and get off the beaten track. Could not ask for anything more in the cottage and would definitely return. The only thing I would suggest is that it be made more clear that towels aren't provided - this is subsumed in the directions to the cottage from the agent and so could be more explicit. Otherwise, a lovely cottage in a fantastic place.

    Remote place with extra summerhouse facing the seaside, the ideal place for enjoying sundowns or warming up after a drizzly day out; we really liked the infrared sauna;

    Ach Na Mara is in a fantastic location. We liked Fiskavaig and the cottage is on the shore. Hill walking on Skye is amazing, and the Cuillin Hills are within easy reach, but so too was access to the North; giving variety of spectacular scenery. The cottage was clean and tidy, and after initially feeling chilly, soon kept its heat due to good insulation. We came prepared and had bought provisions for the week with us as we were aware that the cottage was isolated. However, we did use the shop in Carbost for coal and matches, and were impressed with the variety of what it sold. My only suggestion to improve first impressions would be a 'welcome tray'. The kitchen is well equipped and lounge soon felt cosy when the fire was lit. We will hope to return.

    A homely cottage in a peaceful and tranquil location with outstanding views of the bay, that can be also enjoyed from the fantastic heated summerhouse complete with sauna for the total relax. A very welcoming cottage for either a relaxing getaway or with its ideal location, a good base to tour the natural beauty of the area. A real must.

    There aren't local amenities as such, but we would view that as a huge positive, the cottage is in a peaceful & beautiful location. There is a great pub and small shop in Carbost a couple of miles away. And no problem stocking up at big Coop in Portree or Broadford. There are plenty of heaters to keep you cosy, but personally I missed the convenience and sense of dry air that Central Heating gives you... But, you are in a traditional cottage with a lovely log fire too. And the cottage is good value compared to others in the area. The bathroom in particular was spotlessly clean.

    Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for such complimentary comments about cleanliness and good value for money. Really pleased you enjoyed the peace & beauty there too. Regarding the heating: It is clear in the information that the cottage heating is electrical (apart from the coal fire). This heating creates a warm and dry environment unless all ventilation in the cottage is closed off.

    Very comfortable, well equipped cottage; lovingly & enthusiastically cared for and maintained by owners. Particularly good sized master bedroom with king size bed. Added bonus of smart new sauna/summerhouse to enjoy lovely views over Bay. Complete absence of internet/phone access makes for an ideal 'get away from it all' holiday, although contact with the outside world is readily available at the very welcoming & friendly 'Old Inn' in nearby Carbost (home to the Talisker distillery, well worth a visit). Great holiday. Would come again.
