Nearby are Jedburgh Abbey, Floors Castle, Abbotsford and Mellerstain. Excellent walking and cycle routes, golf, horse riding and fishing. Day trips to Edinburgh, Northumberland and Keilder Water.     Abbey Cottage is set in the hill side with beautiful views over looking Jedburgh the upshot of that is that there is a very short but steep walk up to the car park that may not suit family's with buggies but this is stated in the cottages write-up
