Newquay, with its surf and beach culture is close by, and has many restaurants, shops, a zoo, leisure centres, swimming and a working harbour, where you can take out to sea on one of the many fishing boats and hopefully catch the evening’s dinner. Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, is nearby, and Padstow, with many eateries, including Rick Stein’s restaurant and an excellent fish and chip shop, is a short drive along one of the most beautiful coast roads in the country.
