The neighbouring resort of Heacham, home to Norfolk Lavender, has uncrowded sandy beaches where a day by the sea can be spent with a picnic. For the more adventurous, sea fishing and boat trips can be arranged to Scolt Island nature reserve and to see the seal colonies. At Brancaster (8 miles), a large beach, excellent sailing and windsurfing is offered, together with world-class golf. The historical towns of Kings Lynn, Fakenham and Holt lie within easy reach and provide a selection of shops, theatres, inns and restaurants.
