In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, this comfortable holiday cottage enjoys far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Dunmore Bothy is a detached, single-storey cottage with smart colour co-ordinated interiors which have been well-furnished. Visitors have access to a network of over 6 miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese.
At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village, 3 miles, is one of Perthshire’s gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes’ drive. Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers – the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Shops, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
