Lake District

The Lake District needs no introduction – it is the largest national park in England, and millions of visitors travel there each year to enjoy the scenery, relax by the lakes, and explore Cumbria’s rich heritage.

Cottages with pools near the lakes hold the promise of an idyllic summer vacation, or a romantic autumn break. Even in the winter, the lakes are a joy to visit, with the icy water and snowy peaks creating a frozen wonderland which belongs in a snow globe.

This huge area has some well-established tourist hotspots. Lake Windermere is a favourite with families who love to sail across the lake or enjoy other watersports such as kayaking, wakeboarding or even flyboarding! Bowness-on-Windermere is where you will find The World of Beatrix Potter – a delightful family-friendly theme park based on the writer’s own life and famous novels.

Away from the main towns, cottages with private pools offer a calm space where you can appreciate the simplicity of nature away from the more popular towns and resorts. Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwentwater are just as beautiful as Windermere, but with fewer boats and more wildlife - spend a full day on the water and drift from bank to bank, taking in the scenery and allowing yourself to completely relax.

Of course, if you really want to get away from it all, you should head straight for Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England and the perfect place to get some ‘alone’ time! And after a long, steep hike, you will have a new appreciation for your cottage and its swimming pool.

Holiday cottages with pools really are the best way to explore this incomparable area. Rain or shine, summer or winter, the Lake District has the power to relax anyone within a matter of hours.
